I always loved to cook and wanted to do something for the community.
We’re a cafe by day and a pub by night, situated in Kelsall and surrounded by countryside. The café and pub are a destination venue and much-loved by walkers, cyclists and those enjoying the outdoors.
We concentrate on British classics, with bountiful breakfasts and pub grub that is inclusive to all.
Meet dave
I was a builder and lorry driver until 2019. I nearly lost my leg after a knee op as I ended up with sepsis, and couldn’t continue in those industries as my knee has never been the same since.
I always loved to cook and wanted to do something for the community, and started the Crow’s Nest at the community cafe in Moulton. We offered the classic breakfasts, sandwiches, soups and snacks, plus hot and cold drinks. At the beginning, our customers were predominantly the older locals and the various groups linked to the church but by the end of the four years, we were the café of choice for everyone in the community, with the local tradesmen and builders even becoming regulars each morning.
We were doing so well, that in 2024 I was looking to move to a bigger premises, and spotted The Farmers Arms. I’d taught myself to run a kitchen, so my wife Nicola and I went for it! Since then we’ve been nominated for a host of awards, we’ve become a destination, we’ve rallied the local community and local entrepreneurs, and raised thousands and thousands for charities.
